Message From The President It is my pleasure to welcome you to Volunteer State Community College! Whether you are a prospective student, parent, current student, alumni, community member or friend, you will find that Volunteer State offers an environment that makes your higher education experience rewarding. To prospective students, parents or other guests, I invite you to examine the College closely. You will find an institution of impeccable quality. Our programs, faculty, and staff, are here to provide an excellent learning experience. For those enrolling in college for the first time, I can relate to any feelings of anxiety or uncertainty that you may have – because I am a product of a community college myself.  I want to assure you that here at Volunteer State , you will find all of the services you will need to make a successful start. We are here for you, to answer any question you may have, or to simply offer encouragement should you need it. Vol State has much to offer to those who may not be new to college but are beginning a new start at Volunteer State . You will find that student life and the educational experiences here are comparable to those at a major university. Our outstanding faculty and staff are available to help you in any way possible – your success is our primary reason for being here. A special welcome to our new website is extended to our current students and Alumni. Your continued confidence is proof that we offer our students the best educational experience available, and we promise to continue our commitment in providing a college experience that is both useful and valuable to you. Our Campus Volunteer State Community College is a public two-year community college in Gallatin, Tenn., serving a twelve-county region including the counties of Clay, Davidson, Jackson, Macon, Overton, Pickett, Putnam, Robertson, Smith, Sumner, Trousdale and Wilson. The College is committed to the education of a non-racially identifiable student body. Volunteer State Community College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097, telephone 404 - 679-4500) to award the Associate Degree and holds membership in the American Association of Community and Junior Colleges, and the Southern Association of Junior Colleges and the Tennessee College Association. The College has eligibility certification by the U.S. Office of Education and is approved by the State Department of Education for Veterans Education. The College is an Equal Opportunity Institution of Higher Learning of the Tennessee State Board of Regents and maintains an “open-door” policy of accepting any student who desires to improve through education. A Faculty Assembly offers the faculty opportunities to become involved in decision making on an advisory level. The assembly is designed to improve communications between the faculty and administration and to express collective faculty opinion on issues of concern. The assembly is chaired by a speaker who is chosen from the body by the elected divisional representatives.
