Adult Learning at Volunteer State
If you’re considering college, you’ve already taken the first step. We’re here to help you the rest of the way. Our goal at Volunteer State is to provide a high quality learning environment with the most flexible class options possible. We know flexibility is important to you. You’re trying to juggle a job, a family and a life. We have a number of class options to help you fit college into your busy schedule. We have online classes in a wide range of subjects. We have hybrid classes that combine online and classroom work. The rest of the course work is done online. We also have entire degree programs designed around this concept. They’re called Streamlined Degree Packages. The Streamlined Degree Packages are organized so you can take all of the classes you need on Saturday mornings or in the evening. The rest of the course work is done online. For more information on these options see the links below. Of course, we also offer a full range of traditional day, evening and weekend classes. You can find a complete list of everything we offer in our schedules by clicking here.

The key to learning is support. Volunteer State has developed several programs to help people build basic skills and overcome learning hurdles. Let’s face it: many of us have trouble remembering math and grammar. Check out our NewSkills Center. They can help you figure out what math and English skills you need to work on and then design a customized learning plan just for you. It really works. Computer skills are often another worry that people have when they are returning to school. We have basic computer classes that can help you grow those computer skills. Click on the links below to find out more about the services we provide here at Volunteer State.
Of course, the most important question is what classes, degrees and programs we offer. Click here for a link to our Divisions Page. This will help you check out classes and degree programs in Allied Health, Social Science and Education, Humanities, Math and Science and Business.
If you’re interested in building specific career skills in computing and business, or if you just want to find a new challenge in everything from Yoga to Dog Obedience, take a look at the wide variety of non-credit classes offered in our Continuing Education Department. Click here for a complete list.
If you have any questions along the way don’t hesitate to ask. Just click here to email us a question. Or call our Admissions office for help over the phone. You can reach them at 615-230-3688.
