Dollar Generals Licensing Specialist, while reporting to the Licensing Team Leader, will obtain and maintain all business licenses and related processes including operating licenses, gross receipts calculations, beer and wine, and tobacco licenses. The Specialist also researches, prepares, files, processes and remits appropriate applications and payments to comply with the rules and regulations as prescribed in each jurisdiction including past due licenses, new licenses, payment batch preparation and verification, maintaining all current licenses, processing of property tax (both real and personal) and reviewing for accuracy while also assisting in maintaining various licensing and property tax databases, extensive tracking through specialized spreadsheets, new store research, verification of documents and surveys for licensing, review and redacting of leases to include with various specialized and regulated product applications, preparing and handling of personal information of officers and field personnel.
Duties and Responsibilities
Obtaining and maintaining all licenses for assigned states. Researches, coordinates, prepares, processes and remits assigned license applications and payments for initial licensing and renewals. This information including but not limited to, fingerprints, E-911 verification, background checks, Officer and field PII, redacting leases, aerial site plans and surveys, and coordinating with attorneys. Processes assigned property tax payments in the property tax system.
Assists with maintenance of various licensing and property tax databases to account for all license jurisdictions, applications and property tax payments.
Reviews license and property tax payments for accuracy of charges based on historical and/or third party data.
Researches and resolves license and property tax notices and issues.
Coordinates and advises Field Operations on required licenses for new and relocating stores.
Assists with or participates in special projects and other assignments as needed or required. May assist with property tax audits, business license audits, EBT, electronic funds transfer (EFT) and unclaimed property as directed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Good organizational, planning, complex data analytical, and proactive prioritizing skills to maintain and meet stringent deadlines
Ability to work proficiently with word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications
Ability to interact with government jurisdictions and other departments to obtain relevant information
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form
Ability to work independently, in groups and in gray areas
Ability to review data, break down critical decision points, and effectively communicate any challenges areas
Work Experience and/or Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
One year licensing or office experience preferred.
Proven ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
Basic knowledge of general office accounting preferred.
Compensation will consist of a competitive salary based on your experience, with bonus potential.
