Job Description:
SUMMARY:
The Materials Planner coordinates and schedules materials according to production and shipping schedules or department priorities. Compiles and maintains manual or computerized records. Reviews production schedules and related information and confers with department supervisors to determine material requirements. Materials Planner must communicate verbally and in writing with vendors and suppliers. Materials Planner is under the direction of the Materials Manager.

Responsibilities will include:
• Plans and forecasts for future merchandise buys based on historical buys, reoccurring buys and current inventory levels.
• This position requires coordination and being able to manage conflicting priorities. In addition to making sure the flow of materials is uninterrupted, the material coordinator must utilize procurement concepts in order to minimize costs.
• Requires ability to understand part numbers and quantities
• Requires a dedicated team player and ability to work closely with members of different departments including warehouse, production, and engineering teams.
• Assist with cycle counts and inventory discrepancy research.
• Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
• Assist with cycle counts and inventory discrepancy research.
• Performs a variety of complicated tasks.
• Communicates with suppliers on and ongoing basis to identify trends that may affect materials, pricing and profitability.
• Works under general supervision.

• Strong knowledge of shipping and receiving methods and procedures.
• Communicate with Materials Manager, Plant Manager and other employees about potential problems that could effect plant production.

• Computer literate in Microsoft Office applications and ERP/MRP inventory management software applications
