Job Description:
My son is 6 years old attending kindergarten and he has been diagnosed with autism. He is low verbal, but has a great foundation of skills. In the past, we have tried different therapies and believe that an ABA program will benefit him the best.
"ABA is a mixture of psychological and educational techniques that are utilized based upon the needs of each individual child. Applied Behavior Analysis is the use of behavioral methods to measure behavior, teach functional skills, and evaluate progress...the therapist gives the child a motive, like a question or a request to sit down, along with the correct response. The therapist uses attention, praise or an actual incentive like toys or food to reward the child for repeating the right answer or completing the task; any other response is ignored."
We currently have a team consisting of an ABA consultant and 3 tutors. Each tutor works for 2-3 sessions a week, 2-3 hours each session. There are monthly team meeting's and each tutor is required to post on an online site dedicated to Nate's team. Training will come from overlapping sessions with the consultant and tutors, as well as the team meetings. We can be flexible with schedules, but are looking for someone who can work after his schooling at 4 and during the days in the summer. Sessions are done in our home in Hendersonville.
My son is a seeker and is very active. I am looking for someone who is energetic with a positive outlook, has fun and creative ideas for playing and teaching, and someone who wants to make a change in a child’s life. If you are further interested in the position, please let me know. Thank you.
