Maybe you’ve always liked being creative. You like learning when it’s personally interesting to you. Perhaps you like working with your hands and working with different materials and you like working on a project from beginning to end. Maybe you like doing things in school where you make personal decisions and control the outcome. You like building the knowledge and skills with which to express your ideas.

Maybe art is for you.

One of our alumni stopped by recently. He had graduated from Vol State , earned a BFA at MTSU and gone on to work as a graphic designer. He’s now beginning to take on other jobs in his company and plans to move into management. He credits his success to his art training. “It taught me,” he said, “to stand on my own, to think for myself and develop creative solutions to problems - to ‘think outside the box’. That has made me valuable and successful in the business world.”

Vol State has a strong art program. Among our graduates are professional artists and designers, but also those who are successful in other professions. We help young people build a strong foundation for life.
