Arts Workshops for High School Students

These workshops are open to high school students levels 10 - 12. Each workshop is taught by Vol State Humanities Faculty. Our goal is to give high school students a fun and challenging opportunity to explore music, art & theater.

Visual Arts

Drawing with various media; using the printing press to create alternative approaches to drawing and design. All materials provided.

Beginning Guitar for Songwriting Monday - Thursday 6/9 - 6/12 9AM - 12PM $30
Learn the four basic guitar chords in popular music and how to write songs with those chords. includes a recording studio tour.
Piano Workshop Monday - Tuesday 6/9 - 6/10 9AM - 12PM $15
Learn basic piano skills and improvational jazz techniques. Beginning and intermediate levels available.
Vocal Techniques Wednesday - Thursday 6/11 - 6/12 9AM - 12PM $15
Basic vocal techniques; improvisational techniques; stylistic use of the head and chest; group coaching session about how to audition for a musical.

The fundamentals of acting; auditioning with monologues; practicum in speaking to an audience; forensics.
