Business and Professional Communication
"This course explores communication in the workplace by blending theory with practical application and skill development. Communication behavior in organizations, including networks or "pathways," interviewing, group communication, and public presentations will be examined. Use of web-based and related communication technology will be emphasized." (3 Credit Hours)

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
1. Develop an awareness of basic communication theory, the communication
process, and organizational models.
2. Apply improved listening skills
3. Demonstrate a knowledge and practical application of effective traditional
and electronic resumes.
4. Demonstrate an understanding of effective techniques for both the
interviewer and interviewee.
5. Develop knowledge and practical understanding of small group discussions.
6. Gain experience in exercising small group membership skills.
7. Develop an awareness of effective leadership styles and leadership skills.
8. Develop a knowledge and practical understanding of informative and
persuasive presentations, including the use of technology-assisted
presentation aids.
9. Apply course information and skills to personal experiences in your career
setting.
