Directions is Volunteer State Community College’s New Student Success Program designed to teach you what you need to know about starting college, getting classes scheduled and paid for, buying books and just generally knowing what is going on. Beginning college can be exciting and scary at the same time. That is why we have designed a program that will ease the transition from high school or the work-force into Vol State. There is so much to know about how to make it from one step to the next – EVERYONE needs at least a little help.

It is our intention that after participating in Directions you will come to Vol State equipped with the information you need to make a positive start on your academic future. Whether Vol State is the first step in your college career, or if we are your sole choice for achieving your ultimate career goal, understanding what is expected of you as a student and knowing what to expect of us as an institution is important.
