Discomfort Area	Contributing Factors
Neck	Turning the head to the side to view VDT screen and/or document. Tilting head backwards to see screen through bifocals. Moving head forward and/or down (*sticking head out*) to read text better
Shoulders	Twisting shoulders to the side while typing. Keeping shoulders high up while typing. Hunching forward to see the screen. Armrests on chairs too high.
Upper, mid, lower back	Sitting on the edge of the chair while typing. Leaning forward to see text on screen better. Leaning to the side to reach the mouse. Slouching while typing Turing to the side to type. Leaning backwards to see better.
Buttocks	Sitting on the edge of the chair. Feet resting on legs of chair. Too hard or too soft a chair seat.
Thighs	Feet do not reach the floor while typing. Pressure on the thighs. Legs sloped downwards.
Legs/Feet	Legs placed to the side. Cross-legged to side of desk while typing. Feet unsupported or restricted to chair ring.
Upper, lower arms	No arm support while typing. Arm movement restricted between desk and fixed armrests. Pressure on arms while reaching for the mouse.
Wrists	Wrists deviated to side. Pressing wrists on edge of desk. Wrists flexed or extended significantly.
Hands	Deviate hands while typing.
