Joseph C. Douglas is an Associate Professor of History at Volunteer State. He received a B.A. and M.A. from M.T.S.U. and the Ph.D. in American History from the University of Houston. His areas of specialization include American Culture, Public History, and Environmental History (especially the study of caves). His work has appeared in various journals and in edited volumes of essays published by the University Press of Kentucky and the University of Tennessee Press. He currently teaches American History survey courses, Tennessee History, and (occasionally) History of World Civilizations.
