To create a Works Cited page entry for a book, include all of the following information that is available in the order provided. See the samples for the appropriate punctuation.

Author’s name

  • Title of part of the book

  • Title of the book

  • Name of the editor, translator, or compiler

  • Edition used

  • Number(s) of the volume(s) used

  • Name of the series

  • Place of publication, name of the publisher, and the date of publication

  • Page numbers

Author’s last name, Author’s first name. "Title of part of the book." Title of the book.
     Editor. Edition used. Volume used. Series. City of publication: Publisher, date of publication. Page numbers.

Jewett, Sarah Orne. "A White Heron." Anthology of American Literature. Ed. George McMichael. 4th ed. Vol. 2.
      New York: Macmillan, 1989. 193 - 199.

Note: Format the title of part of the book according to convention, using quotation marks or italics as required.
