Logistics Management

Logistics and Supply Chain Management have become an important part of the economic growth of the Middle Tennessee region with resulting career opportunities for qualified individuals. To help prepare indi viduals for these positions, Volunteer State Community College, working with area employers, has developed a three-step program leading to an Associate of Applied Science Degree in General Business with a concentration in Logistics Management.

The three steps begin with earning a Technical Certificate in Logistics Management, followed by the Institutional Certificate in Logistics Management, and concludes with the General Business Applied Science degree.

Logistics: Defined

Logistics is the process of planning, implementing and controlling the effective flow and storage of goods, services, and related information from point of origin to the point of consumption while meeting all customer requirements. Logistics Management includes customer service, traffic management, demand forecasting, documentation flow, inter-plant movements, order processing, packaging, parts service support, plant and warehouse site selection, purchasing, return products, and distribution center/ warehouse management.
