Joseph C. Watlington, Math & Science Scholarship

The family, friends and faculty of the Mathematics and Science Division provide several academic scholarships in honor and memory of Joseph Conrad Watlington. These scholarships are awarded annually to full time students who:

  1. Have completed a minimum of two collegiate level math, science, mathematics or engineering courses at Volunteer State Community College
  2. Are pursuing a major in a field of science, mathematics or engineering
  3. Have an overall Vol State grade point average of 3.25 or higher

A committee of Math and Science faculty selects the annual recipients from the pool of applicants. The scholarship is renewable for four semesters provided that the student maintains full-time status and a cumulative grade point average equal to or above 3.25. The Watlington Scholarship provides funds which can be used for tuition, books or supplies. “Watlington Scholars” will be introduced to the Mathematics and Science faculty during a scheduled division faculty meeting.

The application for the Joseph C. Watlington Scholarship is available in two formats:

  1. Downloadable PDF
  2. Online form
