Form a textbook committee. 3. Committee will review textbooks and select one to present to department for approval. 4. Department chair will select faculty member to revise course.
I (4)	2.  English Department Retreat	Retreat to be held in Nov. 2003	Adequate	1. Department will discuss textbooks, classroom techniques, administrative issues, etc. 2. Changes may be reflected in Spring classes.
1 (4)	3.  Revise Course Manuals for English Dept.	Manuals will be revised by Jan. 31, 2004	Adequate	1. Form committees for each course. 2. Committee chairs will establish meeting dates. 3. Committees will review goals and objectives, outcome statements, course assignments, classroom exercises, and sample syllabi. 4. Manuals will be revised to reflect all changes listed in step 3.
I (4)	4.  Develop Exit Criteria for DSPW 0800 (Writing II) Barrier exam	Criteria completed by Dec. 2003.	Adequate	1. Form committee of developmental writing faculty. 2. Committee will develop list of topics for criteria. 3. Administer barrier exam to students completing DSPW 0800. 4. Evaluate process for any changes needed. 5. Collect data on students passing course but failing barrier exam.
I (4)	5.  Work with Continuing Education to offer a dually listed course in Creative Writing.	Course will be available Spring 2004	Adequate	1. Meet with Continuing Education to determine if offering a Creative Writing course available to both credit and non-credit students is feasible at this time. 2. If warranted, offer course in Spring, 2004. 3. Track non-credit enrollees in this course as to enrollment in other credit courses.
