The Office of Retention Support and College Success is responsible for Directions: The First Year Experience which includes Campus Connect, onCourse, and other special programs designed to intentionally engage students in their first year of studies. Campus Connect is Volunteer State Community College's New Student Orientation program, which is mandatory for all new first-time freshmen and new certificate seeking students.
Campus Connect is delivered to new students who are entering for the Fall and Spring semesters. Students and their Parent/Support Persons attending Campus Connect will meet with their Academic Advisors, Register for Classes, and learn about fee payment opportunities. Students attending Campus Connect will also be introduced to onCourse.
onCourse is an online seminar and continuation of Campus Connect, provided throughout the student's first semester; whereby, it is introduced to students at their Campus Connect session. This "course" is designed within Desire2Learn [eLEarn] to provide timely, very intentional information at the time students most need to know the information. onCourse materials are aligned with the college's Academic Calendar.
The Office of Retention Support and College Success works very closely with our Evening Services Office to provide a one-stop-shop for our students attending classes in the evenings.
During our student's first year experience there are several offices that can assist in answering questions.
