Types of Databases

The two types of databases that you will be using are: Library catalog and article indexes.

Library catalogs

VolState
ATHENA
Net Library

organize all of the books and audio visual materials that the library contains.

These Catalogs do not include articles.

Article indexes are used to identify articles on a topic. These are located under the link "E-Resources A-Z."

Some article indexes such as ProQuest are general or multidisciplinary.
Ferguson's Career Guidance Center Many indexes specialize in a particular subject area.
