Fun Continuing Education classes coming this spring

Submitted on January 13, 2010 at 9:43 AM

In just a few hours even an absolute beginner can learn to play basic drum set patterns. That's the idea behind Just Once Drums for Busy Adults, one of many continuing education classes coming this spring from Volunteer State Community College. The class will be held for one day on February 1, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Mo Pinheiro teaches the crash course, which gives students basic technique, hand exercises, basic rock patterns, and drum fills; enough to get them playing along with favorite songs right away. The class includes an instructional book and practice DVD. Students can bring drumsticks and a practice pad, or purchase a set at the workshop.

The variety of non-credit classes available at Vol State this spring runs from Fitness Boot Camp for Women, to Around the World with Bargain Wines. Basic House Construction, Residential Landscape, Ballroom Dance, Beginning Golf and Writing Life Stories are just a few of the dozens of evening, in-person and online course offered. For a complete list visit www.volstate.edu/ContinuingEd or call 615-230-3358.
