"Sounds of the Season" are coming to Volunteer State Community College in a Christmas concert and CD release. Students from the Vol State Commercial Music Jazz Ensemble, the Commercial Music Rock Ensemble and the Showstoppers will perform. Songs will include original student compositions, a rocking gospel music section and choreographed dance from the Showstoppers. The students have been working on the CD in the Vol State recording studio.

"The challenge for the music ensembles is that just seven weeks into the semester the students are thrown into a recording session," said Vol State music professor James Story, the director of the show. "These students, some of which have never been in a recording studio or even a school choir, have to step up for the challenge of our performance goals and recording projects. There will be something for everyone at this concert; from classical to jazz, from rock to novelty tunes."

The concert will be held in the auditorium at Caudill Hall on Friday, December 3 and Saturday, December 4 at 7:30 p.m. There is a suggested donation of $5 at the door. For $10 concert goers can get admission and a copy of the CD. Vol State is located at 1480 Nashville Pike in Gallatin. For more information call 615-230-3201.
