A new career program and a course designed for the latest mobile technology are just two of the new offerings coming up at Volunteer State Community College this spring. Classes start on January 12 and registration is open now for all students. New students must apply to the College first.

The Office Management Technology (OMT) Certificate is a Fast-Track program designed to prepare students for the work place, as secretary, office manager or office assistant. The certificate requires just one night a week of classes and can be completed in one semester. The program also earns 17 credit hours toward an OMT associate degree. Interested students should contact Teresa Moore at teresa.moore@volstate.edu

Programming for mobile phone applications is a hot field. Introduction to Programming Logic Using Mobile Applications is a hands-on, project-based introduction to computer programming using the Android environment. Students will learn the foundation of computer programming while designing, developing, and deploying mobile applications that incorporate multimedia, GPS and other current technologies. The program does require previous experience and the permission of the instructor. Students should contact dan.arena@volstate.edu Vol State will also offer Fundamentals of Web Programming and Design and Multi-Media Animation for the Web this spring.

Vol State offers day, evening and Saturday classes and in a variety of formats including online courses and hybrid courses, which combine traditional classroom meetings with online coursework. The application and registration process can be completed online or in person. To view the spring schedule of classes visit www.volstate.edu/schedule.
