Painting, Sculpture and Graphic Design on Exhibit

Yvonne Petkus artThe Volunteer State Community College Thigpen Library Gallery will display the work of painter Yvonne Petkus and artist/graphic designer Matt Tullis in November and December. The unique pairing of commercial and fine art was selected for the pieces to complement one another, and demonstrate that in the exhibit one truly relies on the other. Petkus is assistant professor of art at Western Kentucky University.

“I believe in making as a means to further understanding or thought and am drawn to the physicality and psychology possible in skin and through spatial manipulation,” said Petkus. “I work from a place of questioning, a desire to grasp an unknowable something.”

Tullis is a sculptor, designer, and inventor. He also teaches as a professor of art at Western Kentucky University. He grew up in the Pacific Northwest and worked in a graphic design studios for ten years before deciding to teach full-time.
