Vol State Hosts STEM Innovation Expo Students

STEM students at Vol StateVolunteer State Community College hosted the Second Annual Middle Tennessee STEM Innovation Hub EXPO recently on the Gallatin campus. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. The competition brought 168 middle and high school students to the campus to exhibit their research. There were five categories: STEM Research, Engineering I, Engineering II, Technology, and Agriculture STEM. In just one of many winning exhibits, students from Hawkins Middle School in Hendersonville took the Gold Medal in Technology and won a special award from one of the event sponsors, Deloitte. The Hawkins students built an attendance cell phone app for parents and teachers called “Attend-O-Matic.” They showed off the project to judge and sponsor rep Susan Lewis from Deloitte.
