-
The ASSET placement exam is used for those degree-seeking students who are 21 years of age and older and have never attended college before applying to VSCC.
-
The ASSET placement exam is used for those transfer students who are 21 years of age and older and have attended another college but need to be placed in either the English and/or Math areas.
-
The exam consists of five sections: Writing Skills, Reading Skills, Numerical Skills, Elementary Algebra and Intermediate Algebra. Each section is timed separately at 25 minutes.
-
A student will only take two of the math sections. This is based on how many years of high school algebra were completed. If a student completed 0 to 1 year of high school algebra, he/she will be given the Numerical Skills and Elementary Algebra tests for math placement. A student completing two years of high school algebra will be given the Elementary Algebra and Intermediate Algebra tests for math placement.
-
This test is given to the student free of charge and is scored and entered in Pride Online following the testing session.
