Gallery Exhibits and Visiting Artists
The Volunteer State Art Department, with the support of the Office of Academic Affairs, created the Gallery Program to bring the best contemporary local and regional art to Vol State and to establish a dialogue between the artist and the Vol State community. To this end, an artist's statement about the exhibit is presented with the work, a register and comment book is provided, and the artist is invited to present a Gallery Talk at the Reception.
Because of construction in the Administration Building, the gallery space that usually occupies the Great Hall has been temporarily moved. After September 16, Fall exhibits will be held in the lobby of the Thigpen Library.
If you would like to have your name added to the Art Gallery mailing list, please call the Art Department at 452-8600, x3207 or the Humanities Division at x3201.
In addition, the Art Department brings visiting artists into the studio to engage the art students in dialogue covering a range of topics. Past visiting artists have included graphic designers, studio artists, and medical illustrators.
