Custodial Worker

Job DescriptionCustodial positions are located throughout the county and different building locations. Hours and full and part-time status vary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Sweeps, mops, scrubs, and vacuums class rooms, hallways, stairs, cafeteria, gymnasiums, bathrooms and offices on a regular (daily) basis.

Strips and waxes floors, washes windows, washes tables, dusts, scrubs commodes and other bathroom fixtures, washes bathroom walls, changes light bulbs and cleans water fountains on an as needed basis.

Remove trash from building and grounds.

Makes minor repairs to building and fixtures including repairs to commodes and urinals, water fountains, doors, windows, and fences.

Moves furniture and equipment.

Locks and unlocks building including doors and windows.

Cleans up after sick students and following accidents.

Mows lawn and trims shrubbery.

Provides to and receives from the administration advice regarding the operation of the job.

No employees supervised. May provide technical advice and or training to others in the district that do same, similar or related work.

Builds a positive relationship with students and visitors to the school building.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
