Honors Program Committee

Committee Purpose

The purpose of the Honors Program Committee is to attract academically talented students through the promotion of the Honors Program.

Committee Activities

1. Develop and review criteria for awarding of Honors Scholarships.

2. Develop and review criteria for admission to Honors Program.

3. Provide input for Honors curricular and extra- and co-curricular activities.

4. Develop and recommend procedures for recruiting students.

5. Oversee compliance and implementation of all criteria and procedures.

6. Promote the Honors Program throughout the VSCC service area.

7. Establish dollar amounts for awarding of honors scholarships.

Reporting Relationships

Reports to the Vice President of Academic Affairs

Membership

At least one but no more than two representatives each from the Humanities; Math and Science; and Social Science and Education academic divisions

One representative from Admissions

One representative from advising

One Honors faculty

Student representation: 2 Honors and/or Phi Theta Kappa Students

Total membership: 11 — 14

At-large members: 3

Ex-Officio: Coordinator of Honors Program, Vice President of Academic Affairs
