Library Committee

Committee Purpose

The purpose of the Library Committee is to evaluate the availability of Library resources on and off campus and provide recommendations regarding the library's holdings, equipment, facilities, policies, and practices.

Committee Activities

1. Serve as a forum for discussion of library-related concerns.

2. Identify ways to encourage use of the library facilities by students, campus personnel, and community members.

3. Evaluate suggestions from students, faculty, staff, administrators, and the community about

(a) improvements in library facilities and services

(b) acquisitions and loan of library materials

(c) appropriate distribution of library funds among academic disciplines and service areas

(d) implementing procedures for acquisition of library materials based on accreditation criteria.

4. Make recommendations based on these evaluations to the Director of the Library/Learning Resources Center.

5. Assist with the development of library policies and procedures.

Reports to the Vice President of Academic Affairs

Three representatives from the Library

One faculty member from each Academic Division

One representative from Student Services

One Off-Campus Coordinator

Student representation: 2

Total membership: 10 — 12

At-large members: 4

Ex-Officio: Director of Library Services; Vice President of Academic Affairs
