The CIS Program is designed to prepare students to work in the growing area of computer based information systems. Degree seeking students will be exposed to important aspects of computing in a Business setting including networking, programming, databases, as well as current operating systems and popular Business applications.

The Computer Information System concentration at Volunteer State Community College is designed to prepare students to work in the growing area of computer based information systems. Degree seeking students will be exposed to important aspects of computing in a Business setting including networking, programming, databases, as well as current operating systems and popular Business applications. Our graduates are prepared to work in a supporting capacity performing duties including programming, training, maintaining documentation, assisting in systems analysis and design, network support, and database management. Titles that might be applied to our graduates in the workplace would include entry level programmer, computer operator, LAN manager, training and support specialist, or computer software technician.

Career-Vocational Credit Courses leading to industry-recognized certifications, technical certificates and Associate in Applied Science degrees. Supporting activities designed to assist preparation for individuals seeking career entry, career-sustaining, career specialist, and career growth opportunities are also available.

Advising for current and prospective students, assisting with scheduling, career-path discussions, program completion, Cooperative Work Experience, and job placement.
