III:07:07 TBR Academic Service Scholarships

Rationale

This policy establishes and defines Academic Service Scholarships awarded to outstanding students who have achieved academic success. Five (5) new and five (5) renewal Presidential Scholarships will be awarded annually pending available funding. Up to seventy-five (75) general academic service scholarships will be awarded each year pending available funding.

Policy

Presidential Scholarships

A graduating senior with a GPA of at least 3.5 and an ACT of 26, applying by the deadline dates, may be eligible for a Presidential Scholarship in the amount of $3500. The student in return agrees to work on campus 75 hours per semester. Five (5) new and five (5) renewal scholarships will be awarded annually.

  1. Students must complete a VSCC Scholarship Application and submit all required documents.
  2. Entering freshmen must have at least a 3.5 high school GPA (seventh semester) and an ACT of 26 or more.
  3. Students must pass a minimum of 12 hours with a 3.0 semester grade point average.
  4. Scholarship students attending Summer School must maintain the overall average for their classification.
  5. Any semester in which the student does not meet the regulation in number 3 above or the required work obligation, the scholarship will be automatically cancelled.
  6. Students can receive this scholarship for only four semesters.

General Academic Service Scholarships

A graduating senior with a GPA of at least 3.0 and an ACT of 21, applying by the deadline dates, will be eligible for a TBR Academic Service Scholarship in the amount of $2000. The student in return agrees to work on campus 75 hours per semester.

  1. Students must complete a VSCC Scholarship Application and submit all required documents.
  2. Entering freshmen must have at least a 3.0 high school GPA (seventh semester) and an ACT of 21 or more.
  3. Students must pass a minimum of 12 hours with a 2.5 semester grade point average.
  4. Scholarship students attending Summer School must maintain the overall average for their classification.
  5. Any semester in which the student does not meet the regulation in number 3 above or the required work obligation, the scholarship will be automatically cancelled.
  6. Students can receive this scholarship for only four semesters.
