The Vol State Experience is a new event coming up on April 19 at Volunteer State Community College. It's an opportunity for high school students to explore what Vol State has to offer, while enjoying food, student music and entertainment. Folks from Vol State programs, offices and student clubs will be on hand to meet with students to answer questions and offer advice. There will be information about dual enrollment courses and Vol State academic degree programs. This event is not for college registration. Registration for new students opens up on June 11 and continues through the summer.

High school students are welcome to show up whenever best fits their schedule. Activities start in the afternoon with music from Vol State musicians, ranging from rock and country to rap. Vol State information will be available from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. In the evening there will be a basketball game featuring the Harlem Rockets comedic basketball team. The Vol State Experience is free and open to everyone, including parents, family members and friends. There's no need to RSVP. Concerts will be held outside on the Thigpen Library Lawn and the basketball game inside the gym. It will be held rain or shine, with all events in the gym in case of rain.
