Singer-songwriters at Volunteer State Community College will perform original works as part of the Spring Music Department Spring Showcase Concerts. Students in the songwriting class have been coached this semester by hit songwriter Clay Mills (Diamond Rio, Darius Rucker). Student musicians will also debut original songs that will be performed in Ireland this June as part of a travel-study trip. The concert features the Commercial Music Ensemble, the Jazz Piano class and the Bluegrass Ensemble, called Bluegrass Ablaze. The event coincides with the release of a CD highlighting original student compositions and performances. It's titled "The Men inside Your Radio."
The Spring Showcase Concerts will be held on Friday, April 27 and Saturday, April 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the Wemyss Auditorium at Caudill Hall on the Vol State campus, 1480 Nashville Pike in Gallatin. There is a suggested donation of $5 for admission or $10 for admission and a copy of the CD. The funds will be used for music scholarships. For further information please call 615-230-3201.
