Police training on Gallatin campus Wednesday

You'll see extra police on the Gallatin campus Wednesday afternoon for a training session in the Wood Campus Center. No reason to be alarmed. Here are the full details:

In the wake of so many violent incidents on campuses across the country, law enforcement members have been conducting specialized training to prepare for handling such an incident. These trainings need to be as real as possible in order for them to be effective. Vol State is helping with such a training on the Gallatin campus Wednesday, March 20th from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. We know that false impressions can lead to scares - so we are communicating to everyone, including students, the time and date of this training. It will not be held in any public areas or anywhere near students. It will be held in the Plant Operations area and Police offices on the bottom floor of the Wood Campus Center. You may notice a number of police vehicles on campus and officers dressed in tactical gear. Other than that, the training will be held out of the public eye. You cannot view the training for this reason. The University of Tennessee Institute for Public Service Law Enforcement Innovation Center is conducting the training and they appreciate the assistance we are providing by offering a realistic location.
