Marc Elliot speaks about tolerance at Vol State

Submitted on August 18, 2010 at 4:25 PM

Talk about challenges: Marc Elliot has to worry about going to the bathroom throughout the day and in ways most of us can't imagine. He has involuntary tics and says things that can be hurtful to others. It's the combination of a rare disease that has left him with almost no intestines and a neurological disorder called Tourette's syndrome. Elliot is bringing his story to Volunteer State Community College as part of a presentation on tolerance.

People have called Marc Elliot's presentation "inspirational" and "powerful." It may be his use of humor that will surprise audience members. He tries to show the very human way he handles his disorders and how the public often reacts to him. Elliot will speak at Vol State on September 8 at 12:15 p.m. The event will be held in the auditorium at Caudill Hall. It is free and open to everyone.
