Critical Care Paramedic

Critical Care ParamedicThe Critical Care Paramedic program prepares participants to provide pre-hospital assessment and care for patients at a higher level of care. The program also includes a flight paramedic component. This course in offered through Volunteer State Community College in conjunction with TriStar Centennial Medical Center. Once the participant completes the program, he/she will be prepared to sit for the State of Tennessee Critical Care Paramedic Exam.

To be eligible for the program, applicants must have a minimum of 2 years paramedic experience, and must hold the following certifications; BLS, ACLS, an advanced pediatric life support certification (either PALS, PEPP, or EPC), and a trauma life support certification (either PHTLS or ITLS).

The course fee is $850, and includes the textbook, all equipment and supplies, and one set of scrubs for clinical rotations. All students accepted in the course will obtain a background check and drug screen, and submit medical records to participate in clinical rotations.

Download and complete a program application and fax it to the Center of Emphasis. Staff from the Center will confirm receipt of all applications, and set up a time and date for interviews.
