Social Work

The Social Work area of concentration is intended to provide students with an overview of social work ethics, values, principles, and services. Students will gain an understanding of the inner workings of social work at the micro, mezzo, and macro levels. The focus on serving vulnerable and diverse populations as well as advocating for social justice is paramount in social work. Social work students can expect to learn the history of social work, practice various skills and techniques, and volunteer their time to serve others.

The field of social work is wide and offers endless career options. Social workers have career opportunities in mental health, medical, legal, education, and research arenas. They can serve as case managers, mental health therapists, medical social workers, researchers, policymakers, and social justice advocates. Social workers are highly skilled and trained to offer a variety of services in tandem with most other professional careers.
