The Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Nursing prepares students to become licensed Registered Nurses, with a curriculum aligned with university Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) completion programs. The program is offered at Vol State's Gallatin, Livingston, and Springfield locations, with cohorts starting each summer in Gallatin and Livingston and each fall in Springfield.
If you’re looking to pursue the two-year associate degree nursing program, like Volunteer State’s Nursing A.A.S. program, make sure to enroll in the Pre-Nursing - A.S. program. Team up with an academic advisor to choose the right courses for your future nursing school!
Admission to the Nursing A.A.S. program is competitive, with a limited number of spots available each year. Applicants must complete, or be actively enrolled in, all required general education, science, and elective courses with a minimum 2.9 GPA, and are ranked using a point system; any courses in progress must be completed before starting the nursing program. Graduates are eligible to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) to become a licensed Registered Nurse.
