New to Vol State? After you apply for admission, complete these four steps to get ready for your first semester. Transfer, transient (visiting), and readmitting students may not need every step. Each step notes who it applies to.
Four Steps to Enroll at Vol State
- Complete the application for admission
- Admissions representatives are available to help guide you through the process
- Submit official* transcripts (if applicable) i.e. High School and/or College/University
- For tuition purposes, verify your citizenship status by providing a government-issued photo ID
- Visit the campus to familiarize yourself with services and resources
*to be considered official, transcripts must be sent directly from the school to admissions@volstate.edu
- First-time Freshmen should submit official ACT scores or high school cumulative 3.6 GPA (if less than 5 years)
- Students without test scores or whose scores are over 5 years will need to contact the Advising office to schedule the ACCUPLACER exam

- Academic advising is required for all first-time freshmen and is recommended for Transfer, Transient (visiting), or Readmitting students
- Advisors will help you identify courses and create an educational plan to meet your academic goals
Register for classes
- Register for classes early to get the best schedule, maximize financial aid options, and prepare for a successful semester
- Know when your tuition is due
- Explore Tuition Free options: TN Promise or TN Reconnect
- Explore college scholarships at Vol State College Foundation
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- View detailed information about state and federal programs
- Monitor TouchNet (ePay) in your student portal for current balance information
Log In to My Vol State
Once you've been admitted and received your student account information, log in to My Vol State with your Vol State Microsoft email (username@volstate.edu) to register for classes, check financial aid, and pay your bill.
