GALLATIN, Tenn. – The Volunteer State College Foundation hosted a sold-out crowd of 36 teams of golfers and more than 25 corporate sponsors for the 20th Annual Volunteer State Athletics Golf Classic, held Monday, August 3 at the Bluegrass Yacht & Country Club in Hendersonville.
Vol State extends specials thanks to the Golf Classic Title Sponsor – Highpoint Health - Sumner with Ascension Saint Thomas, as well as Volunteer Bank - a Lawrence Bank, for their Corporate Cup Sponsorship.
In addition, Vol State would like to acknowledge the hospitality and assistance provided by Bluegrass Yacht & Country Club in putting on a first-class event.
The tournament raised more than $21,000 for scholarships and other projects that directly benefit the college’s six athletic teams. This year’s support is especially meaningful as Vol State continues to expand its athletic offerings with the launch of its inaugural women’s soccer and volleyball teams. Golfers enjoyed an enthusiastic welcome from many of these fall sports student athletes.
“This year’s event was a great success and continues a long tradition of community support for Vol State Athletics,” said Volunteer State Athletic Director Bobby Hudson. “Year after year, our community comes together to support our student-athletes, and that's something we never take for granted. The people and businesses who have supported this event over the past 20 years are investing in young people and helping them succeed. We're proud to be part of a community that believes in our students and continues to rally around them.”
