Get high school and college credits at the same time
Volunteer State Community College is proud to partner with area school systems to provide an opportunity for high school students to get a head start on their college experience while still enrolled in high school. Courses are mainly offered at the high school campus during the regular school day and follow the high school calendar as closely as possible. Additionally, students in some school systems, including home-school associations, are able to take classes on Vol State's campus or online with the prior approval of their high school administration. Successful course completion allows the student to earn high school credit and college credit for the same course.
Course offerings are determined in consultation with the participating schools' administration. Students may take a variety of courses including classes from the general education core, as well as career and technical education courses.
Dual Enrollment courses are taught by numerous Vol State faculty. Some courses are taught by full-time faculty who travel to the high schools, and some courses are taught by high school teachers who are also credentialed to teach college-level courses and serve as qualified Vol State adjunct faculty.
