Rape is a crime. Rape is a type of sexual assault involving sexual intercourse or other forms of sexual penetration carried out against a person without that person’s consent.
- Among undergraduate students, 26.4% of females and 6.8% of males experience rape or sexual assault through physical force, violence, or incapacitation
- 21% of TGQN (transgender, genderqueer, nonconforming) college students have been sexually assaulted
- Only 20% of female student victims, age 18-24, report to law enforcement
- More than 50% of college sexual assaults occur in either August, September, October, or November
Sex Without Consent is Rape
What is Consent? Consent is a mutual agreement to participate in a sexual activity.
- Consent can be withdrawn at any time
- An individual who is too drunk or on drugs does not have the mental capacity to give consent
- Someone who is asleep or passed out cannot give consent
- Flirting is not consent
- Silence is no consent, you can’t "see" consent in someone's eyes or body language
