Business Programs
Prepare for a Career: Associate of Applied Science
An Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Business prepares students to launch or advance their careers in business. The department offers four concentrations within the “career” program degree: accounting, logistics, management, and marketing. The curriculum for the A.A.S. degree consists primarily of business courses, enabling students to develop the knowledge and skills sought by today’s employers.
Students can also earn an embedded technical certificate for a rapid path to employment, with all required courses counting toward an A.A.S. degree. Technical Certificate options include Administrative Professional Technology, Entrepreneurship, and Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
Prepare to Transfer: Associate of Science
Students planning to earn a bachelor’s degree can begin at Vol State through an Associate of Science–Tennessee Transfer Pathway (A.S.–TTP) program. The Business Department offers five A.S.–TTP, or “transfer,” majors: accounting, business administration, finance, management, and marketing.
Students in these programs take mostly general education courses and complete most of their business courses at the transfer university. With a rigorous curriculum that requires numerous math and accounting courses, students earning Vol State’s A.S.–TTP degree graduate well prepared for success at a transfer university.
