Engineering Day

Welcome to Vol State Engineering Day!

Engineering Day at Vol State is a one-day conference for 9th-12th-grade students interested in learning more about engineering careers and jobs. We are partnering with engineers from industry and research institutes to offer you hands-on workshops across all areas of engineering, and engineer role models to give you a glimpse of what engineering careers and jobs look like.

To get a glimpse of what an engineering career looks like, see the Explore Engineering Careers – U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Engineering has become one of the most in-demand and fastest-growing career opportunities. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) prepares employment projections for 18 engineering occupations on this website. Nearly 140,000 new jobs are expected for engineers over the 2016–26 decade. “And in 2016, engineers had a median annual wage of $91,010—more than twice the median wage for all workers.” According to the BLS publication.

Vol State has a long tradition of commitment to excellence in the training of engineering students. We offer Tennessee Transfer Pathway (TTP) degrees in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Computer Science, as well as Mechatronics Technology degrees and certificates. Our students are well prepared for jobs or have transferred smoothly to all Tennessee public universities offering a Baccalaureate degree in these majors!

Come join our Vol State Engineering Day and start thinking about Engineering and your future!
