December is a month for door decorating, being social at holiday luncheons, and ugly sweaters. Do you have an ugly sweater you like to wear during the holiday season? If not, perhaps there are some left-over Black Friday deals to be had.
This month, we welcome in Winter (21st) and celebrate Christmas (25th). December also has these special days: National Mutt Day (2nd), National Cookie Day (4th), International Volunteer Day (5th), National Llama Day (9th), Dewey Decimal System Day (10th), National Violin Day (13th), National Free Shipping Day (14th), National Maple Syrup Day (17th), National Ugly Sweater Day (20th), National Short Girl Appreciation Day (21st), National Leftovers Day (27th), and National Call a Friend Day (28th).
On December 13th, Americans will celebrate the birth of the U.S. National Guard. The National Guard is a branch of the United States Army that was established in 1636, and it is comprised of citizen soldiers who volunteer to help their country whenever they are called upon and needed. To my fellow National Guard soldiers, current and veterans, thank you for your service, and Happy Birthday.
In the early hours of December 15th, look to the sky to witness this month's moon at its fullest. The Mohawks named this full moon "Cold Moon" as it appears in the sky around the time of the year when the cold weather settles into many parts of the country.
