Mission Statement
At Volunteer State Community College, our Fire Science Program is committed to preparing skilled, service-driven professionals who are ready to lead in fire protection, emergency response, and public safety. With over 200 years of combined experience, our instructors bring deep knowledge and real-world insight into every course in the Fire Science curriculum. We foster a spirit of community engagement, equipping students not only to respond to emergencies but to serve as proactive leaders, educators, and advocates for safety within the communities they protect.

Our FESHE certified program can be completed 100% online, and provides the flexibility required by students working all shifts and hours.
As the firefighting profession continues to make technological advances, Volunteer State Fire Science Instructors serve students by providing current, relevant instruction on today’s fire service topics and trends. Volunteer State Community College focuses on the critical thinking and problem solving skills not learned in training or on the job. Students can acquire a broader base of knowledge, and a new perspective on the fire service profession.
Whether you are a career paid firefighter, a volunteer firefighter, a recent high school graduate, or you are just interested in the firefighting profession, contact us for more information.
