The goal of the Vol State Department of History is to provide background in American and world history for completion of an associate's degree and for preparation for more study of history at the university level. The curriculum is focused on developing in students an understanding of the present that is informed by an awareness of the past as well as the complex and interdependent relationships between cultures and societies.
