Free Pregnancy Ultrasounds at Vol State

The Vol State Sonography Center in Gallatin.

The Volunteer State Community College Diagnostic Medical Sonography program is offering free ultrasounds for expecting moms in their second or third trimester this spring. The program organizes the scans so that Vol State students can gain experience with real obstetric patients. The scans will be performed in the Sonography Center at the Vol State campus in Gallatin. It’s equipped with six beds, HD screens, and state-of-the-art ultrasound machines. All ultrasounds are supervised by a Vol State faculty member.

The Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) program at Volunteer State Community College is celebrating milestones. The 2017 graduating class is the largest ever at the college, making the Vol State DMS program the biggest in the state. It’s a demanding program academically, so the retention rate of 100 percent, the number of students who started and completed, is another accomplishment. Within seven weeks of graduating, all sixteen students were employed.
