Nothing beats the energy of Alumni Spirit Day at Vol State!
On Saturday, April 11, 2026, alumni turned out to cheer on Vol State baseball during Saturday’s doubleheader, filling the stands with excitement and reliving game-day traditions. One of the standout moments was the reunion of members of the 1980–81 baseball team—Pitcher Mike Clay, Catcher John Decker, First Baseman Eddie Blankenship—and former Coach Jim Anglea. Seeing these former teammates back together was a powerful reminder of how Vol State athletics creates lifelong connections.
Many alumni were also featured on the Vol State Sports Network, sharing memories and reflecting on how their time at Vol State helped shape their journeys. For several attendees, Alumni Spirit Day marked their first return to campus in decades, making the experience especially meaningful.
Beyond the action on the field, alumni had the opportunity to tour the newly refurbished weight room and see firsthand the expansion and enhancements to Vol State’s athletic facilities. The upgraded spaces sparked excitement and pride, especially for those who hadn’t seen campus since their playing days. The growth and investment showcased how Vol State continues to support student-athletes and build for the future, while honoring its past.
Alumni Spirit Day was about more than baseball, it was about reconnecting, celebrating progress, and welcoming former Pioneers back home.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for a memorable day on campus. Whether it had been a few years or a few decades, we loved having you back.
