Celebrating Spring 2019 Graduation

More than 800 students are eligible to graduate from Vol State this spring.

Spring 2019 graduation at Volunteer State Community College brought hundreds of students, family members, and friends to the Pickel Field House on the Gallatin campus Saturday. Among them were adults who were the first to graduate using the TN Reconnect tuition-free college program. There are 95 TN Reconnect students eligible to graduate this spring with degrees or technical certificates. Hundreds of students, family, and well-wishers came to Volunteer State Community College in Gallatin on Saturday as the school held the fall commencement. Cesar Espinosa of Cookeville was named Outstanding Fall Graduate at the ceremony. Faculty nominators cited his dedication in tutoring fellow students in math and science as one reason for the award.  Leukemia and three subsequent bouts of serious E. coli infections has given Espinosa quite a bit of insight into the world of medicine.

Students of many ages and backgrounds shared a moment of accomplishment on Saturday as they celebrated graduation at Volunteer State Community College. They were joined by hundreds of family members and friends at the Pickel Field House on the Gallatin campus for the commencement ceremony. Adult students are a big part of the Vol State family and they often face even more hurdles on the road to that college degree. Keonya Milam of Gallatin was honored as the Outstanding Spring Graduate.
