Lady Pioneers Deliver a Championship Season

Fri, May 08, 2026

Congrats to the Vol State Softball team, whose 2026 season stands as a point of pride for the entire college community. This team brought home a TCCAA regular-season title, a conference tournament championship, Coach of the Year honors, and a return to the NJCAA Division I World Series for the first time since 2011.

The season didn’t begin on the field, but with a delay, as winter weather forced changes to the opening weekend. When the Lady Pioneers finally took the field in Dothan against top national competition, they quickly established the identity that would define their year: consistent, balanced, and difficult to beat.

Blending returning contributors with a strong group of newcomers, Vol State developed into a complete team. Their success came from all areas including timely hitting, dependable pitching, and steady defense, allowing them to stand out as the season progressed, finishing with a 27-3 record in the conference.

The Lady Pioneers captured the first TCCAA regular-season championship in program history, then carried that momentum into the postseason with a standout run to secure the conference tournament title and complete a championship sweep.

Nine players earned All-TCCAA recognition, highlighting the depth and production across the roster. Kaitlyn Davis, Maddie Goad, Maddie Shinton, Kaitlin Dillard, Abby Murrill, and Anaya Dawson were named to the First Team, while Kileigh Irwin, Alyssa Dixon, and Mallie Grizzle earned Second Team honors.

Vol State now heads to the NJCAA Division I World Series in Oxford, Alabama, May 25–30, carrying the pride of an entire campus and community. We’re rallying behind you on as you step on to the national stage. We are so proud of you, Lady Pioneers!
