It was a landmark weekend for Vol State Athletics, as two major coaching milestones were achieved.
Baseball Coach Jim McGuire earned his 500th career win with an impressive road victory over Columbia State, cementing his legacy as one of Vol State’s most successful and respected coaches. Following the milestone win, the baseball team celebrated on the field, surrounding their coach in recognition of a career built on leadership, consistency, and a deep commitment to player development.
Former assistant coaches John Rypel and Bradyn Kail presented Coach McGuire with a commemorative #500 Old Hickory bat marking not only the impact of wins on the scoreboard, but by heartfelt relationships and connections with players and coaches.
The celebration continued at home for Softball Coach Christian Lynn, who recorded his 100th career win with a victory over Motlow State. Following the final out, the softball team gathered on the field to celebrate alongside their coach, recognizing the achievement with pride and excitement.
Under Coach Lynn’s leadership, Vol State’s nationally ranked women’s softball program has become a model of excellence, producing seven All-American selections and 32 All-TCCAA honorees, while consistently advancing players to continue their collegiate softball careers at four-year institutions.
Congratulations to Coach Jim McGuire and Coach Christian Lynn on these outstanding achievements and to the student-athletes who continue to make Vol State proud!
Go Pioneers!
